    Leah Barrett
    Biography:

    Leah Barrett was the executive director of Student Union and Student Involvement from 1998 - 2007. She is currently the Executive Director of Student Development. Previously, she worked at the University of Wyoming, Arizona State University and Valparaiso University. She grew up in Newcastle, Wyoming, and received her M.B.A. degree and her bachelor’s degree in business administration at the University of Wyoming. She says the best part of her job is “the variety and the great people I work with.” Some of her responsibilities include building community on campus through providing strategic support to the Student Union and Activities, Women's Center, Cultural Center, Disability Resource Center, and Children's Center. Community service and involvement includes extensive work with the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt (1993-1998), including being on the leadership team for the 1996 Quilt display in Washington, DC., Borah High School Hospitality & Tourism Academy, and for 13 years she served in various volunteer capacities for the Association of College Unions International.

    Jack Rahmann
    Biography:

    Jack Rahmann has lived in Boise since 1999, and in Idaho for 21 years. Before joining the staff at the Student Union, he and his family lived in Hailey where he owned a landscape/property management company for ten years. In 1979 he earned a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management at Michigan State University, and in 1987, an MBA from DePaul University. He says, “The best part of my job is performing quality control taste tests for Dining Services.” His other responsibilities involve Conference Services, Maintenance/ Facilities Operations, food service equipment and project management. His service projects include being a volunteer and board member for Organic Farm, being a founding member of Charter School, coaching Little League and being honored as “Creative Snack Maker for all of the neighborhood kids!”

    Al Robison earned his degree from Brigham Young University with a major in accounting and a minor in business administration and economics. ᅠHe attended both Oregon State University and Brigham Young University. ᅠSome of his responsibilities include helping prepare the yearly budgets and oversee the financial affairs of the Student Union, the Student Programs Board, the Volunteer Services Board, and the Associated Students of Boise State University. ᅠHeメs been with the University since February of 2004.

    Biography:
    Hob Boazman grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut. He earned his bachelorメs degree in elementary education at Bethany College, and his masterメs in education/early childhood at Boise State. Heメs been with the University for eight years as director of the Childrenメs Center, and says, モI am able to do what I love, working with families and teachers in the early childhood field.ヤ He oversees the daily operations at the Center with a staff of over 50 people who help meet the needs of almost 200 children. He is also active in the local and state affiliates of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).ᅠ

    Melinda Mahr
    Biography:
    Melinda Mahr is from Brooklyn, New York and Lake Luzerne, New York. She received her A.A.S. degree from Adirondack Community College in Queensbury New York, her bachelorメs in English literature and elementary education from State University of New York at Potsdam, and her masterメs in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. She says the best part of her job is, モWorking with the children and their families, mentoring staff and helping educate the community about quality child care.ヤ Her responsibilities include scheduling, hiring and overseeing both the professional and student staff at the Childrenメs Center, ensuring open communication with the families that attend the Childrenメs Center, and ensuring Childrenメs Center compliance with the USDA Food Program and various licensing regulations. Prior to working at Boise State, she was employed by the Treasure Valley Family YMCA as a coordinator for the School Age Program.

    Biography:

    Beth Oppenheimer, the assistant director of University Conference Services, is from Springfield, Illinois. She received her bachelor’s in liberal studies from the University of Montana. She says the best part of her job is “the people I get to work with everyday.” Prior to coming to Boise State, she was at the University of Idaho and has been at the SUB for two years.

    Vivian Player
    Biography:
    Vivian Player is from Salt Lake City, Utah, and has worked for the Student Union for one and a half years. But before joining the staff, she worked for an in-home health care agency, and prior to that, was at Boise State for eight years. As an event coordinator, she assists and guides customers in the planning of events to ensure a successful experience for everyone. She coordinates with different departments such as catering, facilities and parking to make sure all aspects of an event are managed efficiently. She enjoys meeting new people and working with various organizations on and off campus. She has been involved with Drug-Free Idaho, and is currently a member of Families for a Better Idaho.

    Evangeline Beaver is from the Philippines. She received her associate degreeᅠat Lewis-Clark State College and is completing her last yearᅠat BoiseᅠState majoring in SocialᅠScience with an emphasis in communication and sociology. Sheメs been at the Student Union since 2004. Before her job at the Cultural Center, she worked for the BSU Bookstore as a sales associate.ᅠ The best part of her job モis having multiple projects.ヤᅠ Her responsibilities include managing the Student Organizations database, updating the Cultural Center Web site and supervising three or more student employeesラcoordinating work schedules and supervising their daily activities.ᅠShe enjoys helping international students and with Galing Galing eventsᅠ(American-Filipinoᅠgroup) andᅠdance performances.

    Biography:
    Ro Parker, the director of the Cultural Center, was born in Weiser, Idaho, and raised on a farm in eastern Oregon. She received her bachelorメs from Boise State and is in the process of pursing her masterメs. The best part of her job is working with students. Her responsibilities include multicultural programming and awareness education. Before coming to Student Union in 2003, she worked at Treasure Valley Community College. She has assisted low income families with help on their income taxes, is an advocate for GLBT, and is actively involved in issues of immigration reform and pesticide policies in rural areas.

    Brent Delong is from Elmwood, Wisconsin, and received his bachelor’s degree in recreation administration from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, and his master’s in physical education/athletic administration from Idaho State University, Pocatello, Idaho. The best part of his job with Operations, Facilities and Maintenance is his day-to-day interaction with students and student employees, developing students into future professionals and teaching students. His responsibilities include managing evenings and weekends for conference services, managing housekeeping, administering the Union Manager program, supervising the student facilities crew and the evening full-time facilities crew, and planning, producing and managing events.

    Greg Hampton is from Boise and graduated from Boise State in 1968.ᅠHe startedᅠinᅠtheᅠGamesᅠCenterᅠasᅠaᅠstudentᅠemployeeᅠinᅠ1968, and has been with the University ever since. He manages the Games Center, coaches and advises the Boise State University Bowling Team, and enjoys it all. He has volunteered countless hours for Special Olympics Bowling, RakeᅠupᅠBoise, PaintᅠtheᅠTown and JuniorᅠLeagueᅠbowling.     Gary Tucker calls Boise home, but was born and raised in Cheyenne Wyoming. He attended Boise State from 1982 to 1984 seeking his degree in art/advertising, but the money was モin short supply,ヤ he says, and so he worked a few years モto obtain my level as an artisan.ヤ His sole responsibility as the painter is モto make the Student Union look fresh and like the Golden Gate Bridgeナa job that is never-ending.ヤ The best part of his job is the people he meets every dayラold friends and new are part of his everyday journey. Gary also enjoys volunteering his time. He was involved with the Port of Hope Alumni, part of a treatment center where he worked for a few years in Twin Falls. He helped out with the Hagerman Historical Society and the Northside Gem Club before moving to Boise. He is a past member of the Idaho Gem Club, and is currently a senate member representing the Cultural Center and serving on the Cultural Center Advisory Board.

    Biography:
    Sandy Friedly is an Air Force brat from all over, but claims Idaho as home since she has lived here since 1971. She received her bachelorメs in English/with a writing emphasis from Boise State, and an M.F.A. in creative writing, also from Boise State. As a copywriter/editor for the Promotions Office, she thoroughly enjoys the many people she works with, and the challenge of taking 100 pages and condensing them to 40. Some people say sheメs crazy. In addition to blurting out blurbs for brochures or editing information about everything from education to entertainment, she gets to interview people and learn something new every day.

    Carrie Miller was born and raised in Seymour, Indiana. She earned her bachelorメs degree in elementary education with a special education concentration and a computer literacy endorsement from Indiana State University, and her masterメs from Central Missouri State University in student personnel administration. She is new to the area and started working for the Student Union in June of 2006. She is the advisor for the Student Programs Board, chair for the campus-wide Bronco Welcome Committee, and works on Student Activities programming. ᅠBefore joining Boise State, she was a graduate student employed by the Office of Campus Activities at Central Missouri State University. She has モa soft spot for children and animalsヤ and wants to get involved with different community agencies after she settles in.

    Mahi Takazawa is from Colombo, Sri Lanka, and joined the Student Union staff in 2004. He earned his bachelorメs in psychology from Worcester State College, and his masterメs in human development/college student personnel from the University of Rhode Island. The best part of his job is student leadership and development and working for students. Some of his responsibilities include coordinating the Student Leadership Program and advising the Volunteer Services Board. He is involved with MASSPIRG, a community activist organization, and Soka Gakkai International, a Buddhist lay organization.

    Charity is a first year undergraduate student studying for her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with an interdisciplinary major of art metals and oil painting.  She is returning to the academic world after 15 years away.  This is her first semester working at the Women's Center.  Her goal as an employee here is to help other women in complicated situations realize their potential.  She has a wonderful 12-year old son, Calvin.

    Lindsey is a first- year student, majoring in Sociology and planning to work toward a minor in Gender Studies. She is very involved in political and social activism.  Lindsey volunteers with a.l.p.h.a. (Allies Linked for the Prevention of HIV and AIDS) as the assistant to the Director of Education and is an educator for Youth in the Know, a peer-mentoring teen group that teaches comprehensive sex education, as well as dealing with other issues youth face daily.  Lindsey's interests include reading, volunteering, playing basketball with friends, wakeboarding, waterskiing, snowboarding, watching football, and teaching others about the beauty of equality! She is living on campus an is very excited to be a part of Boise State's community and the Women's Center!!

    Lindsey is currently a senior at BSU majoring in Political Science with a Gender Studies minor. Feminism is a very important and positive influence in her life.  She has been involved with the Women's Center for over a year, participating in the 2006 production of the Vagina Monologues as well as mentoring for the Returning Women's program.  She enjoys reading feminist literature and magazines in her spare time, which gives her inspiration to remain active and vocal in Boise's feminist community.

    Petya Stoyanova
    Biography:

    Although originally from Bulgaria, it was Hurricane Katrina that brought Petya to Boise where she is starting an MBA program. Her greatest passion is exploring different cultures.  Her mother's journey has inspired her to work at the Women's Center.  When her mother decided to get a degree in chemistry four years ago, her friends thought she had lost her mind.  She attended classes with some of Petya's high school friends, which is not typically considered normal in a post communist country.  Petya's mother graduated this summer and now runs a laboratory in the biggest oil refinery in Bulgaria.  Petya wants to encourage women not to be afraid to follow their dreams.  It is never too late.
